We recognise the importance of the first 8 weeks in setting up a pup for a purposeful future.
At Tapua we are always updating our knowledge of the evidence based practices in use in Europe and the USA and are currently running our 8 week program to focus on ENS, Sound Desensitisation and Enriched Environments for puppies from birth. Below are video representations of our conditioning practices.
Early Neurological Stimulation
ENS is process developed by Dr Carmen Battaglia and we have been using the technique since 2007 on all our litter. ENS stimulates neural pathways in neonate puppies creating enhanced neural capacities for later development.
Video Tour of K1
Between 4-5 weeks we transition pups from our indoor set up to K 1. This is a 13m x 10m enclosure with a fully insulated Kennel with heating and air-conditioning. They remain in this yard for 1 week to orientate to the new much bigger space. K1 has multiple enrichment options. After approximately 7 days they access their day yard K2 for further enrichment.
Video Tour of K2
K2 is the pups day yard where there are multiple activities it is 15m x 30m. They are just having fun, however every activity they choose to engage with is designed to enrich their mind and set them up for success in their future.
Video Tour of the Main Kennel
Our main kennel houses the rest of the dogs we have on site, although they are given free range of the rest of the property.
The Running of the Labs
Our puppy enrichment course is designed to be low impact but also to challenge and enhance the puppies mind and body. Created to give the pup tactile experience while having fun this course builds on their ENS and builds problem solving and resilience.
